The Cost of "That's Just How I Am"
This weekI met with a highly accomplished attorney whose practice is growing rapidly.
As we were discussing strategies for scaling his business, I noticed a pattern.
He kept saying things like,
“This is how I am.”
“I’ve never been good at that.”
He didn't realize that these seemingly harmless thoughts were quietly sabotaging his growth.
The most powerful ceilings in our careers are often the ones that we don't realize we created.
What you believe you are capable of determines the actions you take, the opportunities you pursue, and ultimately the success you will have.
Many of these beliefs come from past experiences, expectations placed on us from other's, or stories we have repeated for years.
Beliefs are NOT facts.
Take some time to audit your thinking. Where might you be limiting yourself?
“I’ve always been the type of person…..
“That will never happen for me because….
“That isn’t even possible at my age….
Ceilings only exist if you allow them. These ceilings/limits do not have to determine your outcome.
Here are three easy steps to remove the ceiling:
Identify the thought or belief that is limiting you.
Reframe the thought to one of possibility.
Take action! One simple step in the direction of what you want.
