Have you ever secretly fantasized about starting over? Maybe your long-term marriage has ended, your kids have moved out, or maybe you are just tired of your life as it is. You can start over ANY day you want. It doesn’t have to mean that you have to sell your house, move out of state and find all new friends. You can just wake up one day and say to yourself, “I want to do things differently today”. It’s that simple.
I have had a few of these “start overs” in my life. The biggest one was after my divorce. I needed to rebuild my life and start a new career, sell my house, and start over. It was an exciting and challenging time that was filled with lots of ups and downs. I made mistakes and learned a lot from them. However, my transformation and life transition started way before I made any changes. I first had to have a vision for what I wanted my life to look at. I had to imagine myself living a different way and see myself pulling it off. I had to truly believe that it was possible BEFORE I actually had the results that I wanted.
Most of us don’t know that. We think that by making changes and getting the new job, or moving to the new house, that our lives will change. We believe that once we arrive, we will be transformed. But the reality is, you have to fully FEEL and believe that the results and change is possible before true transformation can take place. This goes for losing weight or starting a new exercise program as well. The process of the transformation is just as important, if not more important than where you end up.
In order to have a minor or a major life transition, a lot of things have to happen. But it all starts with belief in yourself and your vision. Allow yourself to enjoy the process of change while taking the steps needed to get where you want to go. Just like a good story in a book, before you can start to write it, you will need to start mapping out what it will look like. Knowing where you want to end up and believing it is possible is the how you begin to start writing, (living), your next chapter.
